Junior Ballet
Ages 3-4
This class is designed for our younger students to learn basic ballet terminology, elementary coordination skills, and a respect for the discipline of the art of ballet.
Beginning I Ballet
Ages 4.5-6
This class introduces the elementary exercises of ballet technique for mastering the placement of the body, the legs, the arms, and the head. In addition, students will continue to develop elementary skills in the coordination of steps and a respect for the discipline of the art of ballet.
Beginning II Ballet
Pre-requisite: Beginning I Ballet or permission of instructor
Building on the previous years’ skills, the subtleties of the classical training will begin to be addressed. Awareness of correct line will become part of the measure of progress. Coordination between the arms and legs is emphasized and the positioning of the upper body.
Intermediate I/II Ballet
Pre-requisite: Intermediate I Ballet and permission of instructor
In this class, students begin to understand the interrelatedness of barre and center while continuing to work on basic alignment. The vocabulary will become more extensive, and the importance of transitioning between positions and strengthening stability will be stressed.
Intermediate III Ballet
Pre-requisite: Intermediate II Ballet and permission of instructor
In this level, classical placement should be established as the arms and head begin to respond in a natural way. The students will begin to master beats, various turns, more complicated adagio work, developing elevation in big jumps, and acquiring more graceful movement qualities.
Advanced I Ballet
Pre-requisite: Intermediate III Ballet and permission of instructor
In this level, the students will begin to explore the study of jumps in various ways with springiness and elasticity of the feet emphasized. Exercises at barre and center will become more complicated and executed at a faster tempo.
Advanced II Ballet
Pre-requisite: 7+ years of formal ballet technique training and permission of instructor ONLY.
In this level, the execution of the fundamental movements learned in previous levels are carried through with finishing touches.
Teen Ballet I
Ages 12+ with no previous formal Ballet training
This class is designed for students in their teenage years with no previous formal ballet training. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of ballet for later mastering the placement of the body, legs, arms, and head. They will develop correct body posture and alignment, gain an understanding of specific ballet terminology, improve flexibility, as well as learning the respect and discpline required for classical ballet.
Teen Ballet II
Pre-requisite: Teen Ballet I
This class is for students who have completed Teen Ballet II, and not yet ready to be placed in a regular level ballet class. They will continue to build on the skills learned the previous year, while consistently focusing on their whole body connection and an awareness of correct line.
Jazz dance explores body isolations, rhythmic patterns, syncopation, coordination, flexibility and strength, set to an upbeat soundtrack of music. Each class will begin with an energetic warm-up followed by combinations of leaps, jumps, and turns across the floor. Emphasis will be on proper alignment and technique while promoting and encouraging individual style and expression. CDC's jazz classes EXPLODE with energy!
Beginning II Jazz
Ages 6+, permission of instructor or completion of Beginning I Jazz or Ballet/Jazz I
In this class, students will begin to explore the basic fundamentals of Jazz. Body isolations, rhythmic patterns, balance and coordination will all be introduced while encouraging each dancers' individual style. Class is set to upbeat, age appropriate music and explodes with FUN!
Intermediate I/II Jazz
Pre-requisite: Beginning II Jazz or permission of instructor
In this class, focus will be strongly on proper alignment and technique, while continuing to build on the previous years' skills. Combinations will become more complex and emphasis will be placed on building strength and flexibility. Ballet class is STRONGLY advised.
Advanced Intermediate Jazz
Pre-requisite: completion of all Intermediate levels of jazz or permission of instructor
Advanced I Jazz
Pre-requisite: 2 years in Intermediate I/II Jazz and permission of instructor
Proper alignment and execution of skills learned should be mastered before moving onto the advanced levels. Combinations and skills will be combined with more "style" to promote expression. Ballet class is STRONGLY advised.
Advanced II Jazz
Pre-requisite: 5+ years of formal Jazz technique training and permission of instructor
Ballet class is STRONGLY advised.
Advanced III Jazz
Pre-requisite: 7+ years of Jazz training and permission of instructor
Ballet class is STRONGLY advised.
Teen Jazz
12+ with little to no formal training
This class was is designed for students in their teenage years with little to no formal training. Dancers will be introduced to the fundamentals of Jazz technique, improve flexibility, learn basic rhythmic patterns, and gain a greater confidence in themselves.
Beginning II Tap
Pre-requisite: Completion of Beginning I Tap or Ballet/Tap I and age 6+
This class, designed for our young tappers, will continue to work on elementary tap steps, coordination skills, and an increased awareness of musicality and rhythm.
Intermediate Tap
Pre-requisite: Completion of beginning levels or permission of instructor
Advanced Intermediate Tap
Pre-requistite: completion of Intermediate Tap and permission of instructor
Advanced Tap
Pre-requisite: Permission of instructor
This class will emphasize the importance of technique and musicality. Students will learn to use their whole body when tap dancing: to loosen their ankles, work from their hips, incorporate and use their arms, engage their core, and feel the groove throughout their body and soul. A variety of genres and styles of music are used in class to highlight creative and distinct rhythms. Students learn to clap rhythms, sing rhythms, and count rhythms and will be challenged to think outside of the box.
Teen Tap
Ages 12+ with no previous formal Tap training
Beginning Modern
Pre-requisite: at least 1 year of Ballet training and over the age of 9
In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of modern dance technique. Basic antatomy will be introduced as well as the study of the muscles and their movements to gain a higher kinesthetic awareness. Focus will be on connection to the ground (and moving from standing to floor or vice versa), shifting of weight, catch & release, sequencing the body so it moves as a whole, spacial awareness, and musicality. Ballet class is required.
Intermediate Modern
Pre-requisite: Permission of instructor ONLY
In this level, students will build on the previous years' vocabulary and skills, as they begin to put steps into a sequence, where transitioning through the movements and space will be stressed. Focus will be on through-line, counter balance, and dynamics as well as a more intense look at the previous years' skills. At least two years in this level is required before moving to the next level. Ballet class is required.
Advanced I Modern
Pre-requisite: Permission of instructor ONLY
In this level, students will have a more vigorous warm-up to develop the skills needed to perfect thier technique, understand how it relates to their center work, and build muscular endurance. Focus will be on emotional connection to movement & performance qualities, articulation of the legs, feet, & arms, and to master all previous years' skills. Ballet class is required.
Advanced II Modern
Pre-requisite: 5+ years of Modern technique training and permission of instructor ONLY
In this level, students will begin to explore improvisation, contact improvisation, and somatics. They will work on more intricate choreography and perfect their transitioning skills. All previous years' skills should be engrained in their muscle memory so they can discover their individual style and have a greater freedom of expression. Ballet class is required.
Beginning/Intermediate Lyrical
Pre-requisite: at least 1 year of Ballet training and over the age of 9
Lyrical is a form of dance that fuses modern, jazz, and ballet techniques and conveys the emotion of a song's lyrics through the body's movements. In this class, students will focus on continuation of movement, connectivity to movement, emotional connection to movements and flexibility. This is a highly technical class and is not reccommended to students who are in less than two classes per week. Ballet class is required.
Advanced Lyrical
Pre-requisite: Permission of instructor ONLY
In this level, students will be challenged to explore the underlying intention and meaning of movement while working on interpreting music and expressing emotions. This class is for mature dancers that are ready to find an open and honest connection to movement and incorparate this into their dancing. Ballet class is required.
Since Hip Hop is not a technique, like other dance disciplines, all levels are solely based upon age unless otherwise suggested by the instructor.
NEW! Hippitty Hop
Ages 3.5-5
Due to high demand, we are offering a hip hop class for our tiny dancers! Hippitty hoppers will learn basic rhythmic steps set to upbeat and fast-paced music. Focus will be on coordination, appropriate classroom behavior, and of course FUN!
Hip Hop I
Ages 5-7
In this class, students will learn various rhythmic steps set to an upbeat soundtrack of hip hop music designed for the young dancer. Focus will be on rhythm, musicality, floor work and

Hip Hop II
Ages 8-11
One of our most popular classes! This class is all about getting your groove on with a high energy warm-up that continues into a choreographed hip hop routine. Focus will be on increased musicality, performance, and fun!
Hip Hop III
Ages 12-15
In this class, students will be challenged with a contemporary hip hop routine after a short warm-up. Choreography will be high energy and fast paced, and will focus on rhythm, hitting beats, agility, and showmanship.
Hip Hop IV
Ages 16+
Same as Hip Hop III with more focus on developing each dancer's personal style.
Ballet/Tap Combo I
Ages 4-6
A combo class like no other! At CDC, we do not believe that 30 minutes per week is enough time for young dancers to fully benefit from each of these two very different disciplines. Our combo class will focus on either ballet or tap each week (alternating) for the full hour! This gives dancers the chance to try both, without the interruption of shoe and class changes. Class curriculum will follow Beginning I level syllabuses for Ballet and Tap.

Ages 4-6

NEW! Stretch & Strengthen
Ages 12+ (only offered during Summer sessions)
A muscle conditioning class that emphasizes breathing, flexibility, and core strength and stability. An intense workout for anyone who wants to develop long, lean muscles and incresed flexibility.
NEW! Leaps & Turns
Pre-requisite: must be in an advanced level of jazz
A high-paced jazz technique class that includes intense core and strengthening exercises and various across the floor progressions. We will focus on improving the dancers strength, power, precision, and technique while executing Jumps, Leaps, and Turns.
NEW! Musical Theater I & II
Ages: Level I 9-12/Level II 13+
This is a mixed level class that introduces musical theater dance to young students. Emphasis will be on ballet and jazz techniques and will combine barre, center work and basic dance combinations from musicals.
